at BC-NYs "Race For The River!" The Battenkill Conservancy-New York will raffle a new, 15 foot Dagger Legend touring canoe at noontime on October 1, 2000 at the conclusion of the 5th Annual Race For The River! The race will be held at the Battenkill Sportsquarters, Route 313, Cambridge, New York. The retail value of the Legend canoe is $999. Dagger is one of the largest manufacturers of outdoor recreational canoes and kayaks in the world. In 1999, the company received Canoe and Kayak Magazines Manufacturer of the Year Award. The Legend canoe is 15 feet long, weighs approximately 61 pounds, and comes equipped with cane seats and a portage yoke. The Legend touring canoe has been designed by Dagger to be stable and versatile. It is an ideal boat for flatwater touring, river paddling, and gentle whitewater. It is roomy, predictable, paddles easily, turns efficiently, and has plenty of cargo capacity for weekend tripping. All proceeds from the raffle will be used to support the Conservancys continuing public education, River Watch, public policy and land conservancy activities. Raffle chances are $5 for one or 3 for $10. Raffle tickets have been distributed and can be purchased from a number of local businesses in the Battenkill Watershed area. In Cambridge, New York, you can purchase tickets at Agway, Battenkill Sportsquarters, Cambridge Valley Vet, Cambridge Valley Chamber of Commerce, Cambridge IGA and Country Properties Real Estate.
