The Battenkill Conservancy-New York is pleased to sponsor the RACE FOR THE RIVER! to bring runners and walkers together and to promote public awareness about the importance of the Battenkill. The 2000 race is co-sponsored by the Battenkill Valley Runners Club

WHEN: Sunday, October 1, 2000 10:00 am. - to be followed immediately by the Kid's Fun Run for children up to the age of 12 and the Youth Marathon Finale for young persons 16 years of age and under.

WHERE: The race will start and finish at the Battenkill Riversports & Campground located approximately 3.5 miles from the center of Cambridge N.Y. on route 313 on the left side of the road.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Registration	8:30-9:30 a.m.
10K Race and Fitnes Walk	10:00 a.m.
Kids Fun Run	11:15 a.m.
Youth Marathon Finale	11:30 a.m.
Post Race Party	11:00 a.m. - Noon
Awards Ceremony	Noon

 

THE COURSE: The out-and-back 10K and Fitness Walk course includes gently rolling hills, backcountry roads, and a scenic highway. The course crosses the historic Eagleville Covered Bridge twice. Splits and water stations at various locations along the route. The Kids Fun Run and Youth Marathon Finale are on the beautiful grounds of the Battenkill Sportsquarters.

GRAND PRIX EVENT: The Race For The River! is an Adirondack Runners Club and a Battenkill Valley Runners Club Grand Prix Event.

PACKET PICKUP: Sunday, October 1, 2000 from 8:30-9:30 am at the Battenkill Sportsquarters.

T-SHIRTS: Long-sleeved t-shirts in guaranteed sizes to all 10K and Fitness Walk applicants whose entries are received by September 15. Short-sleeved t-shirts may be ordered for finishers of the Youth Marathon. (Call us at the number below for more information and an entry form).

AWARDS:
10K Race: Awards will be given to the top three finishers in both the male and female divisions for overall and age groups (no duplications). Age groups are: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.
Fitness Walk: Awards to the top three male and female finishers.
Kids Fun Run: Medals will be given to all finishers
Youth Marathon: Special awards for all finishers of the Youth Marathon

RAFFLE:The Battenkill Conservancy-New York is proud to raffle a 15' DAGGER Legend canoe at the Race For The River! One free raffle ticket will be given to the first 100 10 K road race registrants; additional tickets will be on sale at the race and can be ordered below. Retail value of this canoe is $999!
A variety of prizes from local artists and merchants will also be raffled after the Awards Ceremony. Entrants must be present to win!
