LEARN "THE ART OF FIRE"
CREATE ART GLASS AT THE FURNACE

Resident Artist Aaron Simon at the Furnace

The Museum Glassworks has recently installed an Electric Glass Furnace capable of melting 200 pounds of glass at a time.
We are melting glass pellets designed especially for this equipment. Our Glory Hole is also electric.
The system was designed and installed by Stephen Sinotte of Electroglass Systems Inc. in Michigan.
Our Hot Shop will be clean, quiet, cool and safe. The special glass pellets will produce clear glass of exceptional quality and our instructors will be first rate, experienced glass artists. Our "Gaffer" is Aaron Simon.
A graduate of Skidmore College, in Saratoga Springs.
If you are interested in trying your hand at making glass paperweights, sculpture, vases, bowls, ornaments, etc., make sure your name & address is on our mailing list so we can inform you of our schedule.
Our Studio is now operational with class schedules listed below.

Resident Gaffer, Aaron Simon and guest artist, Ralph Mossman create canes of glass which contain internal designs of glass.  Some of the "Gathers" were stretched to over 50 feet, the length of our work area, out the door and across to the sidewalk on the other side of the street.  When cooled, it can be slice into thin disks and the pattern contained within added to larger pieces of art glass as decoration.

Museum Glassworks is a teaching facility of the National Bottle Museum,
a non-profit 501 c (3) educational institution chartered by the NYS Board of Regents.
