Has anyone thought about pop culture's response to Kafka. The reason I bring may seem a little strange. Remember the series "Father Knows Best" with Robert Young starring as the best knowing father? Well, I remember it very well. About 40 or so years ago, I watched it every week with my parents. For some reason a scene in one episode stayed with me all these years. Why, I don't know. The plot concerned a relative of one of the Andersons who had come to stay with them from The CITY. In sharp contrast to the all wise and serene Anderson household, this CITY relative was dreadfully unhappy, tormented by internal demons. She also was apparently addicted to reading Kafka. Why Kafka, I have always wondered. Was it just a name chosen from a list of artists whose incomprehensible, arcane creations are always being cited by uptight desperately unhappy intellectual snobs? Or was there an agenda in choosing a writer who highlighted the underbelly of middleclass life. Whatever the answer, her problem got solved within the halfhour . As for Kafka, "just say no." work

Yes, I deliberately pluralized the title, for that's the subject of an essay I need to write. My thesis is that Gregor's metamorphosis isn't the only change in the story, and that the other three members of the Samsa family are transformed through the course of the tale as well. I already have a basic outline for this essay, as well as some quotes and supporting text, but if anyone has any thoughts to this, or knows where I can find more information relating to it, the help would be greatly appreciated. I was using my friends computer and reading all this stuff how pitt bulls should be banned! I own a Pitt Bull/rottweiler and he is the greatest dog I've ever owned. I think everyone is missjudging the animal. You should own a Pitt before you start talking about them... just a thought....
