On Kafka

there is a breathlessness like

WATER

            in the reading

                    heavy water

glowing, sparkling, flowing,

puddling, stagnating, growing

                LEAPING

                        from the marked page

wrung from his heart

and fermented in the space between

page

and

reader

clinging to the eyes with a fibrous

                        TENACITY

it flows smoothly into the brain

where it is transubstantiated

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,as we always knew it would be.
